Dear Fellow Physicians:
I have dedicated my life and neurosurgical career to the research and advancement of medical treatments that I believe truly benefits the human condition, in doing so; I have performed extensive research and published over 250 medical papers in journals all over the world. While I am honored to have been referred to as “the foremost expert” on non-invasive spinal treatment and decompression, with this notoriety comes the difficult task of clarifying claimed associations with people or companies who create an impression of association with me, yet with whom I have no dealings whatsoever.
As the decompression market has proliferated in recent years, so have the companies building all sorts of back treatment devices. I believe many of these misrepresent their product by utilizing my studies to support their efficacy. Not only do I take moral issue with this practice, but I believe it is important to make clear that this is not good science.
Currently, any manufacturer can claim their product is built to accomplish an outcome, but until they actually test their own device to prove that outcome, they cannot honestly make that claim! And they cannot claim to have equipment which is providing effects similar to mine. I’ve even seen a device, the SpineMED™, which completely changes the biomechanics of the patient during treatment by tilting the pelvis to achieve a treatment angle- yet they are referencing my studies as performed on completely different designs, biomechanics and technology. I believe this to be grossly misrepresentative.
Medical research today is a costly and arduous endeavor that takes true commitment. Consider carefully the companies that attempt to use our research and to sell you equipment on the basis of my work. The Accu-SPINA® system is the ONLY model that built upon and continues to improve upon my work. I have no financial interest in NAM itself but consult with only them because I believe in their integrity and how they are advancing this science.

Long Term Effect Analysis of IDD in Low Back Pain
I have been a practicing orthopedic spine surgeon in Beverly Hills for over 45 years.
Despite having performed countless spine surgeries, and believing wholly in the importance of spinal wellness, I find it important to stress that not everyone is a good surgical candidate. For some people, surgery may be an unnecessary risk, and thus I believe that effective non-surgical treatment options must be encouraged. That is why, in 2004, I made the decision to invest in an Accu-SpinaⓇ device for my practice. Over the last fifteen years, I have found IDD TherapyⓇ to be an excellent tool.
I have always been a man of science; I have devoted my life to medicine and have a deep love of innovation. Naturally, when I was asked to serve as a founding chair of the Scientific Advisory Board for North American Medical in 2005, I accepted.
I have stayed active in healthcare, primarily, doing consultations and determining appropriate care coverage for insured patients. I have seen claims submitted for many non-surgical approaches. However, I am often more than willing to sign off on IDD TherapyⓇ with the Accu-Spina because of my personal experience using it in my practice.
That is why I am pleased to help present this compilation of clinical evidence on IDD TherapyⓇ treatment. I believe it will be a helpful resource for clinicians. Especially striking is the number of papers on IDD TherapyⓇ which were researched and published by independent clinicians, who readily invested their own time and money into validating this technology, showing their belief in the importance of this work.
As coverage determinations must also rely on the existing literature, I know firsthand how important it is that we continue to conduct research, improving our understanding of this aspect of non-surgical spinal care. This is why I have committed to assist in newer studies on IDD TherapyⓇ treatment outcomes.
I have no financial stake in North American Medical; my interest in IDD TherapyⓇ is borne of an appreciation of this unique treatment and the integrity of the people behind the mission.
I hope this resource encourages more healthcare professionals to achieve greater patient results using this conservative approach to spine care.
Dennis McClure, M.D., enlisted in the US Air Force as a second lieutenant while attending Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and got a scholarship to medical school through the Air Force. In 1977, he received his senior medical license. Dennis finished his neurosurgery residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1984, where he was accepted without an interview while also being promoted to Major in the US Air Force.
He spent two years as a neurosurgeon at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, before being transferred to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, as Chief of Neurosurgery. He was honorably retired from the United States Air Force in 1988 and went on to practice neurosurgery at Good Samaritan Hospital, Miami Valley Hospital, Kettering Hospital, and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. In 1986, he volunteered as a clinical associate professor of surgery at Wright State University.
Dr. McClure and a colleague used ground-breaking intra-operative procedures that were later presented at a surgical symposium. He later purchased an Accu-SPINA® System, a non-invasive back pain treatment device in 2003. As he and his wife gathered study data on the results, his professional career was revolutionized. The findings were so significant that they were published in the Musculoskeletal Review Magazine in the United States and Europe in 2006. In the same year, he was invited to speak about his research findings at the Britspine Medical Conference in Cardiff, Wales.
Dr. McClure said that the highlight of his professional career was standing up in front of his peers and giving a presentation on his outstanding results using the non-invasive Accu-SPINA® System with IDD Therapy® protocols at the prestigious American Association of Neurological Surgeons Conference in 2008.
